New Patients

At your first appointment, your dentist will carry out a comprehensive oral examination. You may not realize quite how much this includes:

• A thorough review of your medical and dental history
• The taking of x-rays and photographs as needed
• Screening for oral cancers
• A periodontal health assessment - to check the health of your gums
• An examination of your teeth and soft tissues
• Assessing for temperomandibular joint problems
• Checking the occlusion (how the teeth meet when biting)

This is such an important exam as it tells your dentist what you need to work on and how we can help you improve it in the future. It is also an opportunity for you to tell us about anything that worries you about your teeth or dentistry, or if you would like to change anything about your smile.

When you arrange your first appointment please let us know if you have any special needs or anxieties.

If you want to come and have a look round and meet the team first you are most welcome but give us a call first so we have someone available to look after you.
